Planning a surprise or secret marriage proposal in Seville? I'll take care of everything for you! Here's exactly how hiring a proposal photographer works.
I capture the whole surprise discreetly — the nerves, the question, and the pure joy right after — from a distance so the moment stays completely natural. The Cathedral, Plaza de España and the romantic old town make a breathtaking backdrop for the biggest question of your life.
Afterwards we continue with a relaxed engagement session so you leave with a full gallery of beautiful photos to remember the day you said yes.
Seville hands you more beautiful backdrops in a twenty-minute walk than most cities manage in a day. Which one is right depends on how you want the photographs to feel — grand and architectural, quiet and intimate, or golden and open by the river. These are the six locations I'm asked for most, and each has its own guide with the practical detail on light, crowds and access.
The most photographed place in the city, and deservedly so: a vast curved arcade in brick and tile, bridges over a little canal, and a symmetry that flatters every frame. It is also the most crowded, which is why I suggest the first hour after opening — the light is soft, the tour groups haven't arrived, and you'll have the alcoves almost to yourselves. See the Plaza de España proposal guide for timings and the best spots to kneel.
If you want something that looks like nowhere else in Europe, this is it — Mudéjar arches, sunken gardens, tiled courtyards and the still pools of the Patio de las Doncellas. It is ticketed and busy, and there are rules about tripods and commercial shoots, so this one rewards planning rather than improvising. The Real Alcázar proposal guide covers how to do it properly, and the Seville photo permit rules explain what is and isn't allowed.
The classic Seville frame, and the easiest to reach. The Plaza del Triunfo and the orange trees of the Patio de los Naranjos give you the Giralda rising behind you without needing a ticket to get the shot. It works beautifully at the very end of the day, when the stone turns warm and the crowds thin out. Details on the Cathedral proposal guide.
The old Jewish quarter is a maze of whitewashed lanes, hidden squares and geraniums on every balcony, and it is where I'd send anyone who wants the proposal to feel private rather than staged. Narrow streets mean fewer onlookers — and easier places for me to wait unseen. More on the Santa Cruz proposal guide.
Across the Guadalquivir, Triana gives you the whole city as a backdrop — the Torre del Oro, the Isabel II bridge and the water catching the last of the light. It is the most relaxed of the six, and the right choice if you'd rather propose somewhere that feels like real Seville than somewhere that feels like a monument. See the Triana proposal guide.
The modern option: an enormous timber lattice with a walkway across the top and views over every rooftop in the centre. Sunset up there is spectacular, and much of it is covered — which makes it the one location that still works if the weather turns. The Las Setas proposal guide has the access details.
Light matters more than location. The hour after sunrise and the hour before sunset are the only two windows I'd plan a proposal around, and in high summer the middle of the day is genuinely difficult — Seville regularly passes forty degrees in July and August. Spring and autumn give you the widest choice of both time and place. There is a month-by-month breakdown in when to propose in Seville.
The proposal itself takes about ninety seconds. What you will actually look at for years afterwards is the half hour that follows — when the adrenaline has dropped and you are both laughing at nothing. That is why every proposal booking includes a relaxed engagement session straight afterwards. Bring a second outfit if you'd like some variety; there is advice on what to wear for a Seville photoshoot, and a longer list of ways to do it in surprise proposal ideas.
Good to know
I stay at a discreet distance and blend in with the other tourists, so your partner has no idea. I capture the walk-up, the moment you get down on one knee, and the celebration right after — completely candidly.
It depends on how long you would like me there and whether you add an engagement session afterwards. Send me your plan and I'll reply with a simple price list.
A week or two is ideal, especially in spring and autumn when Seville is busiest, but I can often fit in last-minute sessions — just ask.
The Plaza de España, the streets beside the Cathedral and Giralda, the Real Alcázar and the riverside in Triana are all breathtaking — see my full guide to the best photo locations in Seville, and I will help you choose and plan the timing so the light is perfect.
We agree a signal and a meeting spot beforehand, and I will already be in position when you arrive. Your partner will simply think I am another tourist taking photos.
