Seville · For Couples
Orange blossom in the air, warm stone glowing at sunset, horse-drawn carriages and flamenco guitar drifting out of the old town — Seville was practically built for couples. Whether you're here for a honeymoon, an anniversary, a proposal, or just a romantic escape, this is a short local guide to the loveliest things to do together. I'm a photographer based here, so a few of these come with a note on where the light and the views are best — in case you want to remember the trip with more than phone snaps.
Walk along Calle Betis in Triana as the sun drops, and the whole historic skyline — the Giralda, the Torre del Oro — lights up gold and reflects in the Guadalquivir. Grab a drink on a riverside terrace, or take a small boat out on the water. It's the most reliably romantic hour of the day in the city.
The lanes of Barrio Santa Cruz are made for aimless wandering — whitewashed walls draped in bougainvillea, tiny plazas with a single orange tree, a guitar somewhere out of sight. Duck into Plaza Santa Marta, a hidden square behind the Cathedral, for a moment of quiet with the Giralda peeking over the rooftops.
The Plaza de España is breathtaking, and if you go just after it opens you can have the tiled crescent and its little bridges almost to yourselves. The Real Alcázar gardens are pure romance — palms, fountains and secret corners built over a thousand years. Both reward an early start over a midday visit, in every season.
Go up to the Las Setas rooftop at dusk for a 360-degree view as the structure lights up. Catch an intimate flamenco show in a small tablao. Share tapas and a glass of Andalusian wine on a quiet terrace. And in spring, simply walk — April's orange blossom turns the whole city into something you'll remember.
The one thing couples tell me they wish they'd done: proper photos of the two of you, together, somewhere beautiful — not another blurry selfie. A relaxed couples or engagement session at golden hour gives you a gallery you'll actually treasure, and if you're planning something bigger, I also photograph surprise proposals. However you spend your time here, do it slowly — Seville rewards it. Get in touch if you'd like photos of your trip.
Good to know
Watch the sunset from Calle Betis in Triana, wander the lanes of Barrio Santa Cruz, visit Plaza de España and the Real Alcázar gardens early, go up Las Setas rooftop at dusk, catch a flamenco show, and share tapas on a quiet terrace. Spring's orange blossom makes simply walking romantic in itself.
April and May for the orange blossom, and October for golden light and thinner crowds, are the loveliest. Avoid the peak summer heat and, unless you want the crowds and festivity, the Semana Santa and Feria weeks in spring.
Walk along the river in Triana as the skyline lights up gold and reflects in the water, then have a drink on a riverside terrace. The Las Setas rooftop at dusk is a lovely alternative for panoramic city views.
Very — it's one of Europe's most romantic cities, compact enough to explore on foot, with warm evenings, beautiful light, gardens, flamenco and wonderful food. It suits honeymoons, anniversaries, proposals and romantic escapes alike.
It's the thing couples most often say they wish they'd done. A relaxed golden-hour session gives you real photos of the two of you together in a beautiful setting — far better than phone selfies — to remember the trip by.
Do less, slowly. Pick a couple of landmarks early in the day, leave the afternoons for wandering and tapas, and save golden hour for the river or a rooftop. Seville rewards an unhurried pace more than a packed itinerary.
